Beautiful Girl Children On Ivy Wall Flowers For You |
Seven years ago, I took a Leave of Absence from teaching to travel and pursue my interest in photography. While in Bali, Indonesia visiting a friend with children, I started to photograph her children and their friends. I took a relaxed, natural approach to photographing the children and let then reveal themselves as they wanted to been seen. I have continued in this style up until today. I enjoy meeting children and taking photos of them as they are in the present moment. Photos are so important for a child's self-esteem and the history of the family. I believe all children should have their lives documented so that when they are older and look back; they will have a sense of continuity as to where they come from and who they are today. I love photographing children being themselves - natural. I prefer working with natural light because it's beautiful and allows the child's personality to come through. I begin by watching the children do what they normally do and continue observing them throughout the session to capture them in the moment. When I am working with children I am filled with a sense of joy. I have tried to see the children the way they want to me to see them and respond to them while taking the photos. It's like a silent conversation. When people view my work, I want them to see the beauty of the individual children as I have captured them in their own world. I am reminded that we were all children once - pure and simple - natural. |
