These paintings represent my ongoing experimentation with layering and collaging paint. Within the last year I started painting with acrylic rather than oil paint, which has led to new ways of being able to apply paint to the canvas. First, I paint on sheets of polyurethane, and then, once it has dried, peel off the skin of paint. Using an exact-o knife, I then cut the sheets of paint into shapes or line drawings and adhere them to the surface of the canvas with gel medium.
