"I love to play with colours and my paints; the colours swirl and mix and change constantly. The movement and dance of the flowers and the landscape are mirrored in paint. My paintings reflect the pleasure and joy that I find in painting."

- Margaret A. Jones -

Artist Profile/Bio
  • born in Lloydminister, Sask.
  • grew up and educated in Edmonton
  • graduated from Misericordia Hospital in 1965
  • received a Certificate in Gerentological Nursing from Grant MacEwan College in 1978

While talking to a very wise friend about retirement plans, Margaret was told that she needed to start painting well before retirement or she would never start when she retired. She started taking some night classes and became "hooked". She met Eiline Raucher-Sutton and became her student; studying with her 'atelier' style until present day. Margaret started studying watercolour, and then moved on to using fluid acrylics. She paints mainly flowers, inspired by her grandparents and mother who were all gardeners; even in the winter, flowers grew on every windowsill. Margaret's other hobby is growing flowers. She also loves to paint the Alberta countryside and is endeavouring to paint her other love, animals. As well, Margaret paints on silk and glass and plays with polymer clay.

Margaret is married to Patrick and the mother of two children. As an Army wife, she spent time in Germany and Winnipeg before returning to Edmonton, where she currently lives with Pat. Hobbies are raising Labrador Retreivers and gardening.
