The Gallery at Milner is once again hosting an exhibit as part of The Works Art and Design Festival. This year's exhibit is titled Melody Time Ranch by Leila Armstrong. Lethbridge artist Leila Armstrong investigates our ongoing relationship with cowboy culture, gently satirizing gender roles in paintings and small dioramas, using cartoon-like quality in her work, being playful and capricious, rather than heavy-handed in her critique of traditional values. Melody Time Ranch invites a broad audience to explore their own nostalgia for the Wild, Wild West and to engage with issues of gender and sexuality in a framework designed to inspire open dialogue rather than divisiveness. |
