Albert Valette and Jim Allison, 1949

Seventeen year olds Albert Valette (left) and Jim Allison (right) enjoy a rare visit in May of 1949. Jim came to Edmonton to visit his sister Myrtle and to celebrate his [seventeenth] birthday. Photographers usually stood south of Zeller's on 101 Street, south of the Metropolitan, or on the west side of 101 Street near the Rialto Theatre. They would take your photo and give you a ticket with a corresponding number. If you wanted the photo you would go to the storefront and for fifty cents pick up the photo. - Anne Allison
