Edmonton: Why I love this city...

Why I love Edmonton

After some years spent in Ottawa, a lovely city with a great education, twenty-five years ago; and three years in Toronto where our home was roomy and centrally located, we decided that Edmonton was the best place to settle for the later years of our lives.

There are several reasons for this choice:

- We enjoy the reasonably priced and variety of cultural activities year round

- Snow shoveling of dry snow is easy

- The endless blue sky

- The beauty of the river valley

- It is mid-way between the homes of our sons

- It is cheaper than either of the Ontario cities - homes, food, clothing, household goods, furniture, services

- It has good swimming pools which open early in the morning

- It invites the world to party

- There is the Spring Session for older adults now run by ELLA, previously by the Extension department of the U. of A.

- It has the Edmonton Journal where we can read news, and ideas, letters and obituaries - to see if we're still alive

- There are friendly people who accept the fact that older people are still human beings

- There are always new friends to meet

- My husband enjoys working in his post Bel Air retirement years

- Sunrise and sunsets, moonrise, moon set.
